Hi there!
I’ve been a PharmD for over 20 years but I’ve recently become physically handicapped. All my previous experience has been with retail/community where I’ve been everything from a staff to a PIC and pharmacy manager but now I cannot fulfill the physical functions of those jobs. Clinical work is a passion of mine and always has been and I’ve been quick to lead, and in the least participate in clinical work my entire career as it became an integral part of our profession.
Now that I’m applying for work from home clinical pharmacy positions, I find I’m being asked for certifications for PBM, clinical, Epic/Willow etc.
What’s the best way for me to proceed?
I have no alternate income nor do I want to give up on my career which is what everyone is telling me to do. I have a respect and passion for pharmacy, especially clinical work. These aren’t just paychecks to me, I truly love how I’ve positively impacted my community over two decades!
Can you please guide me on how to transition into clinical work from home? What certification(s) should I be striving for and in what order?
I read what you stated about EPIC/Willow and I realize it’s a vicious cycle for me because I can’t get certified without a job that uses Willow and no one will hire me because I don’t have certification. It’s the same for WFH clinical positions too.
What would you do if you were me?
Hi Benni,
I’m sorry to hear about what you’re going through but I believe you can still work within our profession with all the remote opportunities available to pharmacists now.
I’m happy to have a 1:1 chat with you about different options. You can schedule time on my calendar here for us to chat.
